The "2013" Experience

We are officially in our last days of 2013. A new year is always highly anticipated. Goals are set, resolutions are broadcasted all over social media, and declarations are made. As an organization and in my personal life, 2013 was a gift from God. No complaints! 

As a single, celibate, natural haired sista' everybody wants to know,  "how is my love life going?" "Did you meet anybody yet?" "What are you doing for valentines day?" "You really been celibate for that long?" "Do you use sex toys?" (Yea! They really ask me that!! Lololol!) And NO! I do not use sex toys!!! Celibacy is to abstain from ALL sex! No toys allowed. 

I must have single written accross my forehead!! So my dear twin sister came up with this "plan" that was suppose to definately land me in a relationship in 2013. If you are interested in my love life, and natural hair, then you will NOT be disappointed with this blog post. 

Here goes....

Around January I did an annual length check. I went to a random stylist and straightened my hair. If you look closely, you can see a hint of burgandy hair color. The plan was to go bold this year and this launch was to test the waters. This particular night I went bowling with some pretty cool strangers! Great way to start the new year right?! So far so good! 

Around Feb/March I crossed completly over. My Sister suggested this "make over" in hopes of me having a love life in 2013. Burnt orange and red hair just in time for Valentine Day. Sukkie! Sukkie!!! 

A little spring/summer time randomness with no make up. I love the purity in this picture! These trendy sunglasses and I met online and fell crazy in LOVE! We were photographed together in almost every picture during the spring through fall months. Nothing like a hot summer fling right?! Keep reading, it gets better! 

Around June/July I met this affordable stylist who hooked me up with this nice updo! Nattalicious was co-hosting a charity event and we Natural girls like to get our hair done too! At this moment I was feeling myself and my hair. I was so Drunk in LOVE I decided to take some nude shoulder pictures! Love life is off to a grear start! But wait....There is more! 

Summer 2013 closed out with a reunion of my childhood stylist as she hooked me up with this braided mohawk. My "boss chick" inspired look was just the image I needed to attend the "America's Most Wanted Tour"  

Some rapper named T.I and Lil Wayne performed, but my reason for going was to meet the Love of my life, Mr. 2 Chainz. Nothing about Mr. Chainz music glorifies God. He speaks of big booties and the trap house chronicles. However, I fell in love with his loc's and that southern, gutta, gangsta accent (Thou shall not Lust, or something like that). 

Our relationship was very brief. Lasted about 10/15 minutes. In fact, it ended at the close of his concert segment. I'm sure he thinks about me everyday. Maybe I should have paid the cutie who photobombed me more attention instead of giving all my attention to Mr. Chainz!

This was the last profile picture I took before taking a facebook sabbatical fall 2013, lol! *Note the trendy sunglasses that I fell in LOVE with earlier, is back in my life* 

At that moment I was in the middle of finishing my Master's degree. A voice, which I believed to be the Holy Spirit, said not to log back on to facebook until I have completed all my assignments.
(Yea, Occasionally I listen to 2 Chainz and God talks to me whenever he feels like it. Judge me all you want! Just meet me in Heaven when that sky crack, Lol)

By that time, I was in a full blown love triangle. I was in love with God enough to trust his plan for my life, I was in love with the holy spirit for speaking to me, and I was in love with the 6 assignments that took up all my days and nights. 

From a single circle to a love triangle? This was too good to be true!! Keep reading! It gets better! 

This photo was taken the day after I got the news that I have passed all my assignments. I was officially out of that complicated relationship with this Master's degree. If you look on left side of my hair, you may notice a single two strand twist. This photo made personal history as having the youngest stylist EVER in my hair. My four year old neice blessed me with her hands and her creative ability.

December 14, 2013.  I decided to switch my style up. Why? My reason is pretty vain, again, judge me all you want, lol!

During my permed hair days, my hair was always shoulder length. The 1st picture is an idea of how I would typically wear my hair after a fresh perm. 

Since returning to natural hair,  my hair has been growing UPWARD and not DOWNWARD. I want my hair to grow DOWN so that it can touch my back. Pretty vain right?! Like I said, judge me all you want, this is my blog, with my issues, and my hair, lol! 

My ideal natural hair look is to be that of Tracee Ellis Ross: 

After four years (or more) of being natural, I was rudely awaken to the realization that I have 100% African in my blood line. I was told that my tight coiled hair is NEVER going to look like that! The Devil is a Liar!!! *Spiritual Note: when you refuse to face the truth, blame the Devil* 

So what's a girl to do when she wants long hair flowing down her back? I need to connect with my inner rapunzel! My back is cold! My neck is tanned! 

We decided to go with a two strand twist method to locing my hair. Currently, I am entering this phase where the hair is trying to "matte" with each other. *Pray Saints* 

There is this "religious" debate about loc's. Some debates believed that Jesus had loc's in his hair. Some believe loc's represnts Medusa. *The woman with the snaked up hair* **Snakes are suppose to be connected with Evil, hence the snake in the garden who persuaded Adam to eat this forbidden fruit. ***

On the positive side of this debate, I will flow with the thought of Jesus having locs in his hair. *By the way, Have you read in thebible  where Jesus got hair cuts?* If its true that Jesus had locs, I hope this will add to my heavenly brownie points, Lol! *SuperSaint* (LOL) laugh with me please, no hate mail allowed, lol! 

Since maturing a little, (probably more than I like to give myself credit for) I try to consult Jesus in my decision making process. When asked should I loc my hair, I believe I heard, "Go ahead, you will like them!" So There I am, waiting for my hair to loc. I'll take two gallons of MAC make up/eyeshadow and a few beanie hats please?! 

How long will I keep these loc's? Hmmm... I think my instructions were five years. Maybe 50 years? When I start getting grey hair and going bald in the middle? Whatever, I'll ask again if I get weary during the process. Let me enjoy my trip to loc'ville. 

In relationship news, According to a few natural hair loc advisors, l am guaranteed to meet Boaz with my new hair. I dont believe he's gonna come during this "beginner's phase" but, Have your way Jesus, lol! 

BUT!!! what you not gonna do is... Read this entire blog and think that I am loc-ing my hair to get a man! My love life (with Jesus) is great!

I have my dog, my kid, netflix, Beyonce just dropped an album, I get drunk off communion, I pay my tithes, give to the needy, and i'm celebrating another year of celibacy! Whoo-Hoo! (Whatever, lolol)  What more can I ask for? 

Lets just all pray that the Sky doesnt crack on my honey moon night, and i'm in good health to carry a child at the age of 50. (I'm just playing Jesus, you know my heart! Marriage and Baby Before 35 would be nice, 33 would be even better! lolololololol) 

Right now I'm on a quest to have long hair, if Boaz comes, he better bring it! All of it, good credit, with loc's, a six pack, a huge savings account, and no baby momma drama, Lol! 

In Nattalicious News we are planning launch parties! Launch parties is our way of OFFICIALLY introducing ourselves to your communities. We've been here and there, met some cool women doing great things in their Natural Hair community, and we are going to do our part by launching programs and community involvement in Our city!
